Research at the University of Liège
Atypical myopathy has been the subject of extensive research at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège for the past decade, under the direction of Dr. Dominique Votion.
Since 2006, the researchers have established an online alert group, allowing veterinarians and owners to report cases of the disease detected in horses. The University of Liège has thus acquired substantial expertise in this field on a European scale.
However, these research endeavors receive very limited funding. Dominique Votion's team is, therefore, seeking donations from individuals to continue their scientific work in this area.
To our knowledge, there is currently no researcher (worldwide!) dedicated 100% to the study of atypical myopathy!
The goal of these donations is to obtain the funds necessary to employ a full-time researcher. Help us achieve this goal!
The AMAG Alert Group
In addition to the research conducted at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Liège, an alert network for atypical myopathy has been initiated to allow horse owners to implement specific protective measures.
This alert group is called "AMAG," which stands for "Atypical Myopathy Alert Group." It is an informal association bringing together scientists and veterinarians confronted with cases of atypical myopathy.
